Background

The Foundation for Women’s Wellness, FWW, was established by Dr. Lila Nachtigall, MD internationally recognized for her work advancing women’s hormone health and menopausal medicine along with Sharon Cravitz and Lynn Zises. Lila’s vision was to raise support for promising physician scientists with important ideas for whom small grants could lead to new information and catalyze new directions in women’s health related research. Lila’s experience was that there are stellar medical professionals for whom small grants are scarce; yet it is these kind of studies where new ideas can be tested and innovation begins. This perspective is supported by the facts — private sources spend less than one-fifth of their total health funding on medical research with women’s health receiving a fraction of this amount.

FWW is guided by voluntary physicians, scientists and specialists and maintains a small infrastructure ensuring optimal giving to its research and fellowship awards.
